“Masquerade!” is the first live performance at the White Plains Performing Arts Center since the start of the pandemic. The celebration of the works of Andrew Lloyd Webber opens this Friday, October 8.

It has been 21 months since the White Plains Performing Arts Center (WPPAC) presented its last musical production. “Masquerade!, Which premieres at WPPAC on October 8, features stories and songs from the celebrated life and work of Andrew Lloyd Webber and commemorates the performing arts centre’s first Mainstage production since “Newsies” in January 2020.

“It’s been a long time and we couldn’t be more excited to finally be back to doing what we’re supposed to do – providing quality live entertainment to our community,” said Kathy Davisson, Managing Director of WPPAC.

Described as a “funny and warm musical portrait and a concert for the theater”, “Masquerade!” Will offer audiences an intimate look at Lloyd Webber’s five decades in the limelight as one of the most successful musical theater composers.

With new and sometimes unexpected renditions of Lloyd Webber’s most beloved songs from “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Evita”, “Cats”, “Phantom of the Opera” and “Sunset Boulevard”, viewers will hear familiar songs in one. contemporary production.

“Her music is contagious and vibrant, and the show celebrates the iconic songs we all love over the years,” Stephen Ferri, executive producer and music director of WPPAC, and Antoniette DiPietropolo, director of “Masquerade!” said in a joint statement.

To “Masquerade! Audience members will experience some of the ways in which these musicals and songs were inspired by the creative spirit of Lloyd Webber.

“Think of it as a glimpse into the mind of an iconic composer while discovering all the successes of his greatest shows,” said Ferri and DiPietropolo. “It’s unlike anything else you’ve seen, and we’re excited to bring it to life this season at WPPAC.”

After more than a year without performing due to the pandemic, they wanted to do something a little smaller for their reopening music production.

“This premiere was the perfect way to once again welcome our audience for an exceptional evening of theater showcasing this legendary composer and his creative process,” said Ferri and DiPietropolo.

For this show, it was important to provide an immersive experience for viewers by launching incredible talent from New York. “Masquerade!” stars artists Brandi Burkhardt, Julian Decker, Andrew Foote, Rebecca Kuznick, Emily Royer, Cartreze Tucker, Aaron Burt and Shannon Rakow.

The cast has a combined previous experience in Broadway and non-Broadway productions, television, film, national touring and regional theater.

“Masquerade!” Is also choreographed by DiPietropolo, set design by Christopher and Justin Swader, lighting design by Matt Guminski, sound design by Don Hanna, screenings by Kevan Looney and costumes by Antonio Consuegra. is headed by T. Rick Jones.

“Everyone is part of the same team supporting each other as artists to give a high performance and not just a gig of (Lloyd Webber’s) work,” said Ferri and DiPietropolo. “Being able to create this show together and hopefully give it a future life has been very rewarding.”

Masquerade! premieres at WPPAC on October 8 and through October 24. Performance hours are 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and tickets are available for purchase at www.wppac.com.
