Refugee Smoke and Mirrors – The Patriot Post

Since Joe Biden took the presidential oath to âsupport and defendâ the Constitution, his number one goal has been to violate that oath in any way he can. “Moderate.” “Unit.” Pfft.
A key part of his America Last agenda has been to undo the work of President Donald Trump to secure our southern border. Or, as Biden puts it, “cancel[ing] damage over the past four years. Biden issued a series of executive orders in his early days, overturning many enforcement mechanisms, and the predictable result was a border crisis.
A few weeks ago our Thomas Gallatin recounted how Biden finally admitted it was a crisis, even as the president and his managers quickly backed down. Part of the math was Biden’s disappointment over Trump’s refugee cap. As Gallatin explained, the administration is attempting “to erode and broaden the defining distinctions that the United States has long put in place when it comes to recognizing true refugee status.” Rather than welcoming those who suffer from various forms of persecution, the Biden team wants to open the doors wide to “refugees” who simply prefer to have a better paying job.
After facing a major left-wing backlash for signing an executive order last month saying he would maintain Trump’s ceiling of 15,000 refugees, Biden quickly nodded. He announced on Monday that he would raise it to 62,500, saying: “It is important to take this step today to remove any lingering doubts in the minds of refugees around the world who have suffered so much and who are eagerly awaiting their death. new lives to begin with. In other words, “to remove any lingering doubt in the minds of” Biden’s left puppeteers. Meanwhile, the effective message to everyone south of the border: Cross the Mexican border, man!
This numbers game is partly smoke and mirrors. “The increase in the cap comes eight months after the start of the government’s fiscal year, which means that the entire 62,500 people are unlikely to enter the United States before September 30.” reports the Wall Street Journal. “The United States has admitted just over 2,000 refugees so far this year, by far the lowest on record.”
Biden tried to bolster his “compassion” credentials by lamenting, “The sad truth is, we won’t get 62,500 admissions this year.”
No, the sad truth is that many more migrants than this will cross the border. Some 19,000 unaccompanied minors fell in March only.
There are âadmissionsâ, then there are âadmissionsâ. While only 2,000 refugees have entered through legal channels, and although the country may not reach 62,500 refugees this year, the border has been inundated with arriving migrants. illegally. If apprehended, they are often given a court date and released; most never show up to court. Biden knows this because it’s by design.
The United States has always been a bastion of hope for refugees around the world. âGive me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses that yearn to breathe freely,â written by Emma Lazarus, is on a plaque mounted to the Statue of Liberty. But that was at a time when âE pluribus unumâ – Latin for âamong many, oneâ – was still literally the motto of our nation. The Democrats have reversed the situation, and for them, it is now “on one, many”.
They destroyed the idea of ââcultural assimilation, which means that today’s refugees become little more than their political pawns in a nation of tribal divisions. Democrats have undermined the rule of law by offering lavish benefits that are costing taxpayers far too much. They also put US citizens last. “Raising the admission limit for refugees will endanger the jobs and security of Americans,” said Senator Tom Cotton. “The Biden administration should focus on getting Americans back to work.”
No nation can long survive such ill-conceived policies. When you hear Biden refer to this as compassion and “American values,” just remember that he and his fellow radical Democrats are completely redefining “American values.” It’s “a statement about who we are and who we want to be,” he says. Well, socialism without borders is totally contrary to the founding principles and values ââof our nation, and that is not what the patriots want to be.
