ORLANDO, Florida. – If you love the arts, you’ll love the debut of a new concert hall at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
Steinmetz Hall will open in January, as part of the second phase of development of the Art Center. FOX 35 News got a preview of the performance space which contains over 1,600 seats.
It is located on the north side of the facility which is, in total, approximately 700,000 square feet. Taxpayers and donors raised $ 612 million to create the concert hall.
Center CEO Kathy Ramsberger said Steinmetz Hall will be inaugurated on January 14, with a big celebration, where the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will perform with the Royal Ballet. Musicians Jennifer Hudson, Leon Bridges and Lyle Lovett are also scheduled to perform.
âThis room transforms into many different shapes and the way you celebrate different types of music,â she added.
Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said it was helping increase tourism in central Florida.
âA state-of-the-art performing arts venue will be rewarding and will significantly contribute to our economy and our quality of life. We are delighted to support the center as we continue to elevate the status of the arts and culture here in Central Florida.
