North America’s Largest Puppet To Climb A Huge Calgary Tower This Weekend
Human beings are obsessed with size. Whether it’s a mammal or an object of unusual dimensions, we can’t help but stop, stare, or watch 20 Tiktoks about its existence. This weekend, Calgarians are encouraged to point their gazes to the city and watch in wonder North America’s largest puppet, DAVID, climb the Devon Tower of Water Cairo as part of the STEAM-inspired celebration of Beakerhead featuring some of the best and brightest in the art festival.
Participating in the Calgary International Film Festival, this oversized puppet, led by expert puppeteers and operators, will begin to take to the downtown building around 7 p.m. on September 25.
At 34 feet tall, this absolute giant will scale the 39 floors of the recognizable structure in a display of resilience and hope.

Now when we say this fully articulated one-piece beast – we really mean it. Create using 800 feet of half-inch aluminum rod, 1200 feet of rope DAVID is the only puppet in the world, capable of holding full performances in its hands. Crazy, right?
Created by The Underground Circus company in Vancouver, this tall guy has traveled across the continent and now – he’s here!
âWe’re excited to be able to delight Calgarians with a collective experience – coming together to be curious, cheer on DAVID and, in turn, celebrate each other,â said Jennifer Martin, Interim CEO at Beakerhead
“DAVID’s rise, carried by scope, story by story, will demonstrate to all of us the power of human potential and the universality of human experience.”
It will truly be something to watch, so don’t miss it!
It’s going to be⦠HUGE!
