Indian Cine Workers Association urges PM to ban ‘Why I Killed Gandhi’ film

All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding a complete ban on the film ‘Why I Killed Gandhi’ as the film glorifies Nathuram Godse the traitor and assassin of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

“All Indian Cine Workers Association demands a complete ban on the film Why I Killed Gandhi which is due to be released on the OTT platform in India on 30th January 2022, as this film glorifies Nathuram Godse the traitor and killer of the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhiji. Gandhiji is someone who is admired by all of INDIA and the world, Gandhiji’s ideology is a symbol of love and sacrifice for every Indian,” the letter reads.

The association further stated that if this film is released, the entire nation will be shocked and devastated by the demonstration of this heinous crime.

“Nathuram Godse is (the traitor and assassin of Gandhi) does not deserve an inch of respect from anyone in this country, the actor who played the role of Nathuram Godse (the traitor and assassin of Gandhi ) is a sitting MP in Lok Sabha and is under the oath of the Indian Constitution, if this film comes out, the entire nation will be shocked and devastated by the demonstration of the heinous crime that happened on January 30, 1948,” a- he declared.

He added that India has never forgotten and will never forget Mahatma Gandhiji’s contribution to this democratic nation.

“On behalf of the entire nation and all film associations, we demand that ‘Why I Killed Gandhi’ be banned from release on the OTT platform,” the association added.

“Why I Killed Gandhi”, due out on Limelight OTT on January 30 – the anniversary of Gandhi’s death.

Amol Kolhe was previously in Shiv Sena and a top Marathi actor since 2008 and has acted in many period films and played many roles of historical figures like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Kolhe joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in 2019 and defeated Sena’s Shivajirao Adhalarao Patil in the Shirur Lok Sabha elections.
