Holmes County Steam Engine Association Announces 2021 Show – Ohio Ag Net
Preparations are being finalized for the 2021 Holmes County Steam Engine Association Show. New this year is a dirt road which will be used for both Horse and Antique Tractor Pull events.
The 29the a three-day annual event will take place on Mt. Hope Auction Grounds / Holmes County Event Center, Mt. Hope, Ohio. The dates are Thursday August 5, Friday August 6 and Saturday August 7.
Each year a make and make of tractor are featured, with 2021 being the year of Case IH / Farmall. If that’s not your favorite, next year will feature John Deere.
This fun and exciting family weekend kicks off Thursday at 9 a.m. and includes steam engine demonstrations, the popular noon whistle, and later in the day the kids’ pedal race. The local music group “Six Strings Band” will provide entertainment at 5:00 pm. The main event of the evening, the Horse Pull, will start at 6 p.m.
âOur raffle has always been one of the largest in the state and provides an even larger purse of $ 10,000 this year,â said Melvin Wengerd, HCSEA Board Member. âDespite the pandemic last year, we had a big draw and we expect an even bigger one this year. ”
Friday includes the 11 a.m. ball and pan throwing. You don’t want to miss the 1:30 p.m. tractor games which include washing, barrel rolling, and wagon support competitions. And at the end of the afternoon, the entertainment intensifies at 5 pm, as proposed by the local band “High Country”. Later in the evening, the 2-Track Antique Tractor Pull will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the famous Steam Engine Spark Show to light up Mt. Hope heaven.
Doors open at 8 a.m. on Saturday with another eventful day, including the second annual tractor ride.
â2020 was our first ‘tractor ride through Holmes County’ and we couldn’t be more pleased with our participation,â said Wengerd. âWe had about 30 tractors participating and we hope to increase that number this year. Since this is a 90-minute trip, tractors must be able to travel 10 miles per hour to complete within the allotted time.
The event ends at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
