Elemental AKL returns in July with an ever-growing number of events and experiences celebrating the culture, cuisine and creativity of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

From July 14 to August 1, festival-goers can experience art, food, music and activities as Elemental AKL events transform restaurants, bars and hotel lobbies, theaters, stadiums and spaces Auckland audiences into exciting experience centers. Events range from premium paid experiences to free events.

Auckland Unlimited – Auckland’s economic and cultural agency – is working closely with leading experts in events, entertainment, the arts and hospitality to host the Elemental AKL Festival, now in its third year.

Richard Clarke, Auckland Unlimited Head of Major Events and Business, says:

“We are proud that Elemental AKL is turning into a festival like no other in New Zealand. The growing list of experiences is as diverse as Auckland and reflects the rich culture, creativity and kai of our region. “

“It has been a difficult year for our events, hospitality and entertainment sectors, and we are proud to be working alongside so many leading experts in the industry to bring this festival to life.”

The program offers illuminating, surprising, stimulating, nourishing and unique events to feast your eyes, nourish your mind and fill your heart.

For those who missed out in 2020, sold-out events such as Synthony, Ahi – Auckland’s Culinary History, Progressive butcher’s and beer dinner, the Onehunga Food Tour and the Silent walk in the disco city will be back with a host of new and exciting events.

Also returning this year to light up the Auckland concert stage is the Elemental Nights Concert Series by Live Nation which will see a selection of emerging and high-profile local and international actors perform unique shows like no other in some of the city’s best venues. Programming announced soon!

The festival will provide opportunities to see Auckland from new perspectives: a sunset kayak through the harbor and back for dinner; a hikoi to explore important Maori public works of art in the heart of the city; a large art exhibition at Eden Park; and a delicious winter light festival in Takapuna. Incredible meals, world-class performances and beautiful venues will also combine for evenings to remember, like the tenor Geoff Sewell and chef Josh emett organize a five-star party at the Park Hyatt hotel.

Festival-goers can also learn something new in the kitchen with an oyster masterclass with Josh emett, or an exploration of “any mushroom” at Good from scratch with Michael Van de Elzen, or try a gastronomy class or winter foraging adventure.

The list of experiences continues to grow and more events will be announced ahead of the festival.
