There are always plenty of things to do in the Coachella Valley. We’ve put together a list of family-friendly events and entertainment happening this week.

Dedication to Mikael Healey

Master pianist, composer, producer and singer Mikael Healey will receive a star dedication on the Walk of the Stars in Palm Springs this week. Healey has been involved with local nonprofits Angel View and SafeHouse of the Desert. He has shared his talents with Palm Springs for over 25 years and has won the Kings Award for Excellence in the Performing Arts.

American Documentary and Animation Film Festival

The American Documentary and Animation Film Festival, more commonly known as AmDocs, focuses on international non-fiction films, with short and feature categories. Head to a screening to experience the event, which is one of the largest documentary and animation festivals in the United States.

Interview and reading with Jonathan Nevair

“HOWL” Desert Tour

Copper Mountain College.

Calling all literature fans: Copper Mountain College’s annual “HOWL” literary magazine will tour the desert, featuring readings from the 2022 edition, live music, food and artwork.

Family fun party

Looking for a fun way to spend time with your family? The annual Family Fun Fest returns to provide families with a fun filled day of activities, crafts, a bouncy house, an appearance from “Sparky” the fire dog and more. Attendees will receive a special card on a lanyard to tag at the stands and then enter to win a prize basket.

Farmer in the Dale Farmers Market

Farmer in the Dale Produce sells exotic fruits such as soursop guanabana in Desert Hot Springs, Calif., on November 22, 2021.

VillageFest

Villagefest takes place every Thursday at 7 p.m. on Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs.

Looking for a way to relax? VillageFest has vendor stalls ranging from clothes to food, meaning you can indulge in everything from massage to chocolate.

The Street Fair at College of the Desert

The Street Fair at College of the Desert takes place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday.

The Street Fair at College of the Desert offers locals and visitors a shaded outdoor shopping experience. The street fair features over a thousand items for sale for all ages and budgets, from artisans, homewares, fashion, furniture, entertainment, food and more.

Exhibition “Cultural cannibalism”

Six desert artists – Cito Gonzales, Adriana Lopez-Ospina, Kim Manfredi, Flávia Lima do Rêgo Monteiro, Joyce Rooks and Hector Salas – present new works based on their heritage and explore ideas of cultural absorption, exhaustion and transcendence.
